Sabbatical Reflections: Week 11 - 52 Ways To Stand Out And No More Wrist Pain

This past week, I wrapped up the book "52 McGs" that is a compilation of the best obituaries by NY Times reporter Robert McG. Thomas. For the last month, I read two each morning to get the day started just right. What I liked about reading the obituaries of people like the inventor of Kitty Litter, a 1950's stereotypical hipster, and a Goat Man was how it showed the richness there is to life and the many ways to lead one's journey.

I spent the week on book writing, a job search with a couple of interviews, and improving my boxing right hook just enough to not have any more wrist pain. The initial thrill left a while ago and external motivation has waned. I've had to lean more on internal motivation. It took a Goat Man and a couple of Dr. K videos to remind me of the value of following through, though.

How does one become remarkable? Keep showing up when no one is watching. So this week I'll continue with writing my book Leverage Maps. Two chapters drafted and 5 more to go. Job applications continue. Algorithms coding interview prep continues following some review of Big O notation. Marathon training season approaches. I'm now re-reading "Welcome To The Monkey House" in the mornings. There's a lot to do.
