My phone is in black and white again. I set my Moto G Power 5G 2023 to grayscale. I haven’t had my phone in grayscale since my college years. Back then, for 18 months, I fully appreciated life’s colors. Sure, they were duller and more muted than the flashy red of the YouTube logo. But you couldn’t beat the hazy yellows, oranges, and reds of an early Chicago evening.
I finished reading “The Dip: A Little Book That Teaches You When to Quit (and When to Stick)” a couple of weeks ago. It’s a quick read that emphasizes focus. Focus has been on my mind lately. It’s a part of reinventing yourself that happens when you’re in the middle of living a life transition. In it, you try to answer the age-old questions of what’s worth doing for the sake of doing and what does it mean to live a meaningful life. The ancient philosophers that I have much respect for thought about these questions a lot.
Last week, I decided to consolidate my writing ventures. I based the decision on taking steps toward my long term goals. I made the leap of making Iron Temple Ranch a 10-year personal mission instead of an unclaimed vision or dream. It’s going to be a ranch that helps young men re-establish themselves as they learn skills that they can take forward. It might be a southwest Texas ranch with a work-exchange program. I plan on continuing to teach and share my journey through my writing, so I am focusing on Leverage Notes and finishing up my manuscript of Leverage Maps.
If this vision resonates with you, or if you have experience with similar initiatives, I'd love to connect and learn from your journey.
